What the tutor categories mean
- Part-time tutors are usually undergraduates or graduates tutoring alongside study or work. TutorCity’s table counts polytechnic and university students and graduates here.
- Full-time tutors tutor as their main work.
- School teachers are current or former MOE teachers; TutorCity attributes their higher rates to NIE training and other certifications.
Working out a month
Rate x hours per lesson x lessons a week x 4. A full-time tutor at S$50 an hour, 1.5 hours once a week, is about S$300 a month. The tuition cost calculator does the arithmetic for each level and tutor type.
